Information on vitamin E
- Vegetable vitamin E makes an important contribution to increasing performance1)
- Vitamin E also plays a role in protecting cells against oxidative stress1)
An adequate supply of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) is also important for a healthy diet. The effect of vitamin E in the body is similar to its effect in nature. Plants produce the vitamin, for example, to protect fats in seed kernels from becoming rancid - from oxidation. Vitamin E also develops this antioxidant capacity in the blood vessels. It captures so-called "free radicals" - aggressive chemical substances that act like a corrosive agent - and renders them harmless.
Unlike plants, however, humans cannot produce vitamin E themselves. We therefore rely on absorbing it through nutrition. Especially vegetable fats such as sunflower and wheat germ oils as well as nuts are rich in this vitamin. A healthy diet is therefore the basis for balanced vitamin levels. However, not everyone has enough vitamin E in their diet. Especially people who eat a low-fat diet often do not reach the recommended vitamin E intake. Moreover, stress and environmental pollution increase the need for this vitamin. Here, vitamin E capsules are a good way to counteract this deficiency.
An adequate supply of vitamin E is of great importance for health and well-being.
