Update from the new building

A lot has happened! The building shell of the first and second floor is already finished. Little by little, the other two floors will be added. We look forward to presenting our new building to you at the beginning of next year, with doubled shop space, an auditorium for film screenings and lectures, especially for bus groups, as well as a small glassed-in room where we produce live for you. To make sure you don't miss anything, follow us on YouTube. Our managing director Sally Wagner will keep you up to date with new videos on a regular basis. The videos are in German, but the visible progress speaks for itself.

Employee Monday with Mr Lächler

1. What is your function at Kräuterhaus?

I am a biologist and I'm responsible for the development of our Tierlieb products.

2. What is the best thing about your work?

It is certainly the creative freedom of development and the variety associated with it. The development does not only mean the preparation of recipes, but also includes a comprehensive literature search, procurement and selection of raw materials and writing of texts. You learn something new every day. In addition, I am in constant contact with other departments such as the laboratory, production, purchasing and marketing. It never gets boring.

3. Which challenges do you face?

The biggest challenge in developing a new product is finding a formula that is accepted by the animal. Many herbal ingredients, amino acids and trace elements taste very bitter or sour and are not well accepted by dogs, cats and horses. Then we have to tinker around with recipe until the flavour is accepted by most animals. Of course, all feed regulations have to be complied with and you have to keep track of things, as many projects run at the same time.

4. Do you have a favourite product from Kräuterhaus?

At the moment I'm totally into the spicy vinegar, which I use for red cabbage, lentils or sauces for meat dishes.

5. Today you can make a wish! Which department would you like to try out as an apprentice?

There's actually no better department than product development for me! But if I had to choose an alternative, I would interested in marketing.

Responsibility for our environment

We take responsibility for our environment

The Kräuterhaus Sanct Bernhard places great value on the preservation of a clean environment which is worth living in. For this reason, we recently received the distinction 'ECOfit company'.

As a company, we take responsibility for observing and applying ecological principles within our business processes and thus reducing both negative environmental influences and costs.

With the consistent installation of photovoltaic systems on company buildings since 2012, we have permanently developed a sustainable power supply. In 2017, we were able to generate approx. 400,000 kWh of power in an environmentally-friendly manner in our own photovoltaic systems.

Our objective is to continue to utilise energy resources in a sustainable and environmentally conscious manner. This includes for example the planning and procurement of energy-saving company buildings, vehicles and production machines.

An in-house Energy Team works on finding new and innovative possibilities for using heat and energy even more efficiently. The sensitisation of our employees for economic energy consumption connected with regular training for environmentally conscious behaviour is a major priority for us. Legal regulations and official requirements are of course maintained as minimum standards.

We are delighted to have been awarded the distinction 'ECOfit company' for our commitment. The ECOfit project is a component of the Climate Protection Initiative of the Administrative District of Göppingen and is promoted by the State of Baden-Württemberg.

Employee Monday with Mrs Damaschke

1. What is your function at Kräuterhaus?

I pamper our customers as a beautician.

2. What is the best thing about your work?

Contact with people is the best thing. It is especially nice when long-term customers keep coming back. A client recently said to me: “When the Lord God created you, He had a good day.” Such kind words, of course, are nice to hear. In actual fact, all of my customers are such nice people.
The work really is wonderful and tranquil. And I want to pass on this tranquility to the people who come to me. Everyone has enough everyday stress after all. It's great to see people gradually relax more and more during treatment. I just have to make sure that I stick to the times, so that the other customers can be treated on time.

3. What are the challenges?

Treating every customer in such a way that they definitely want to come back is sometimes not that easy. Age, mind set and gender are all very mixed. I would like to respond to each individual and see exactly what makes the person feel good. I have to be flexible " which I love doing.

4. Do you have a favourite Kräuterhaus product?

For me as a beautician, a product from my area of course: the moisturising ampoules. They work deep down and I have never found anything like them from any other company.

5. Today you can make a wish! Which department would you like to try out as an apprentice?

Definitely the Spezerei. I love baking. Of course I would taste it, too.

Employee Monday with Pietro Carlucci

1. Which function do you have in the Kräuterhaus?

I am one of the production managers for nutritional supplements and animal feed.

2. What is the best thing about your work?

It's actually the problems that crop up. Such as when a machine does not work properly. Or if a process does not run smoothly. It really gives me great pleasure to search for and implement solutions with people here. I am allowed to instruct, supervise and train the employees on the machines. I find it all really great.

3. What are the challenges?

I have been here in the company since autumn 2003, but have only been production manager for one year. It is an extremely exciting challenge to take on this new task. Last year we had such a big growth with many new machines and employees. There is a lot to do and I should look at it from a completely new perspective. It has never been and never will be boring.

4. Do you have a favourite Kräuterhaus product?

You would think it should be capsules or tablets, wouldn’t you? But it is actually the organic cranberries. They are so tasty! You can't snack on the capsules we produce in my department at home. ;)

5. Today you can make a wish! Which department would you like to try out as an apprentice?

I would very much like to try out the international department. There is a team that is solely responsible for exports to Italy. I would like to be an apprentice there. Of course, I would look after the Italian customers in Italian " that would be a small piece of home, so to speak.
